Anyone Home is an interactive installation, made in collaboration with Jason Wright, featuring a box that can be drawn or written upon. After a visitor creates a drawing or message, it is erased and a response appears.
Anyone Home creates a surprising series of disconnected yet poignant interactions. It ultimately investigates the nature of technological conversation and the undeniably human presence that can be found at its core.
A Processing sketch runs the drawing and erasing portion of the piece, and the responses that appear are generated using a Python script that pulls from several email threads. The box broadcasts (via email) images of new messages, and periodically checks its email to determine a response.
